The Salvation - interivew with Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen
hey guys, I posted this video yesterday and asked if someone can please help translate the interview. and ordre-et-beaute kindly did it for us. :) I then asked if I can share her effort and she said yes! she also said that the translation is a rough one (Eng is not her mother language. well, not mine, either.) but I think it’s totally enough for us! (I slightly correct something I can.) so now, let’s find out what Eva and Mads said!
Antoine talked about cinema was a family business for Mads and Eva. during the little vid, he asked Eva, “Marlene (Eva’s mother, also an actress) always has a strong bond w/ the festival and Cannes, so is it a real pleasure to be here or a familial duty?” Eva replied that it will be her first time to go up the stairs tomorrow night (Saturday). so she’s a little bit nervous and at the same time excited, has butterflies in the belly. Then Antoine said that she’ll hold Mads’ arm, so everything will be fine. then Eva said Mads is her protector.
Then the guy w/ the bow tie said that Eva and Mads are here at Cannes for Salvation, but it’s also a reunion for them ‘coz they both played w/ James Bond’s nerves in Casino Royale. Then he asked her if it was her who insisted to be together with Mads again, or a mutual idea, a shared wish. They both said yes. Mads then explained they just shared one scene in Casino Royale, that she gave him poison and he killed her, he can’t remember.
Eva then said in Salvation, Mads’ character is her James Bond, he’s opposite of Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. Antoine said Salvation is a Danish western. He asked if it’s a concept to Mads. He talked about Mads’ career (Pusher by Nicolas Winding Refn and The Hunt by Thomas Vinterberg) to Eva. then asked, “you’re a woman of cinema, but you do a TV show “Penny Dreadful” on Showtime in the U.S. and It’s a hit there. What’s the story about?” Eva said it’s extremely hard to tell, and It’s the most difficult character she has ever played. “It’s a woman, a rebel in Victorian era and she’s possessed by demons in every meaning of the word. It’s a very physical role. You shouldn’t end up at Sainte Anne (psychiatric hospital in Paris). You should take care of yourself.” she said. Antoine said he’s eagerly, excited to see that.
thanks to ordre-et-beaute again!!! :)
